Tuesday’s high school basketball highlights

The Franklin boys basketball team kicked off its season with a 109-43 victory over Talawanda on Tuesday night. The host Wildcats were led in scoring by Luke Kennard who rattled home 38 points and chipped in 9 assists and 7 rebounds. Evan Crowe added a double-double with 23 points and 11 assists. Matt Thompson (17) and Austin Doliboa (15) were also in double digits in scoring. Thompson had 5 of the team’s 16 three-pointers in the game.

Talawanda fell to 0-2 with the road loss. Jacob Hiler scored 15 points for the Braves.

West Carrollton 86, Valley View 70: West Carrollton (1-1) snapped a 25-game losing streak as four Pirates were in double figures in scoring. Alex Craig had a career-best 26 points, and Dylan Craver (16), Spencer O'Day (19), and Devante Lashe (11) all contributed to the offensive explosion.

Sidney 44, Bellefontaine 43: Cameron Gallimore scored 14 points, none more crucial than the game-winning layup at the buzzer for Sidney. Darryl McNeal added 10 points to lead Sidney's comeback at Bellefontaine. The Yellow Jackets (1-2) trailed by 5 heading into the fourth quarter.

Carroll 43, Badin 40, 2OT: Jackson Jabir scored all 8 of Carroll's points in the overtime periods, finishing with a game-high 20. David Ivey added 13 for the Patriots (2-0). Badin (1-1) got 17 points from Zach Larkin.

CJ 58, Roger Bacon 57: Myo Baxter-Bell led the Eagles with 24 points, and Alan Vest added 13.

Troy Christian 84, Emm. Christian 35: Grant Zawadzki paced the Eagles (2-0) with 24 points. Luke Dillahunt and Isiah Fairley added 13 each. Nick Morgan led Emmanuel Christian (0-2) with 15 points.

Stebbins 42, Belmont 40: Stebbins squeaked out a victory at home after a potential game-tying bucket from Belmont at the buzzer was waived off by the officials. Evan Monaghan led Stebbins (2-0) with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Ja'Quan Dangerfield chipped in 11. Isaiah Williams had 15 points for the Bison (0-2).

Fairmont 85, Graham 42: The Firebirds (2-0) cruised in its home opener. Fairmont senior Antonio Atria launched five treys to go along with his 22 points. Garrett Sexton tallied 15 points off the bench and Jacob Maloney added 14 for Fairmont.

Kenton Ridge 68, WL-Salem 63: Joseph Lacey hit 6 of the Cougars' 12 treys and finished with 20 points. Jordan Bailey contributed 19 and Scotty Blackburn had 15 for Kenton Ridge (2-0). The Tigers (1-2) got a game-high 21 points from Conner Woods.

Oakwood 57, Waynesville 50: The Lumberjacks moved to 2-0 as Michael Hoecht provided the offensive support with a game-high 21 points. Mitch Sexton had 14 points, including 4 three-pointers to lead the Spartans (0-2).

Xenia Christian 53, Cedarville 48: Senior guard Jonny Eustace poured in a career-best 28 points to lead the Ambassadors (2-1).

Miami Valley 65, Jefferson 37: Sophomore Casey Gossett paced the Rams (2-0) with 27 points.

Miamisburg 76, Edgewood 37: Senior Adam Giles tied a career-high with 24 points to lift the Vikings (1-1).

Girls Basketball

Houston 59, Fairlawn 53: Macey Stang and Nicole Maier each had 17 points for Houston. Fairlawn was led by Megan Dudgeon who had 17 points and Audrey Francis who finished with 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. The Wildcats (3-2) won their third straight conference game, while the Jets (1-4), dropped their third in-a-row, and fourth straight overall.

Preble Shawnee 41, Dixie 36: Allison Began had 17 points and Adrianna Moore added 11 for the Arrows, who have reeled off four straight wins to start the season. Abby Bertke and Cassidy Shell each had 10 points for the Greyhounds (2-3).

Milton-Union 64, Northridge 16: The Bulldogs (3-1) jumped out to a 20-4 first-quarter advantage. Brooke Falb led all scorers with 16 points.

Fort Loramie 60, Russia 55: Jessica Boerger led Loramie with 17 points. Kylie Wilson tallied the same total for Russia.

Lima Bath 56, Anna 42: Cayla Bensman led Anna (3-2) with 14 points.
