‘I’m living my dream’ — Springfield grad Davis catches TD in Packers’ exhibition game

“It kind of felt surreal,” Davis in an interview shared on Packers.com. “I just try to stay in the moment and understand I’m living my dream. It was one hell of a night.”

Davis signed as an undrafted free agent with the Packers in the spring. He spent the last five seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers. In his college career, he caught 131 passes for 1,642 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 14 times for 245 yards and scored two touchdowns.

On his touchdown catch Friday, Davis caught the ball at the 11-yard line, beat the defender covering him and then lunged for the goal line as another defender tackled him.

“That one we changed the route at the line, and I gave him a go route,” Love said on Packers.com. “The ball was still a little bit too far forward, but Danny made a great play to come back to get it.”

“I just tried to make a play on the ball,” Davis said. “I had a fade on it. I’m just trying to make a play for the quarterback. Jordan threw a great ball for me. I just went up there and attacked it and tried to score after that. That’s something I take pride in. I just want to get that ball. I’m blessed for that situation and opportunity and looking forward to more.”
