Braxton Miller’s rookie season in the NFL ended Tuesday when the Houston Texans placed the former Ohio State Buckeyes and Wayne High School star on injured reserve with a sprained and bruised right shoulder.

Miller, a third-round draft pick, suffered the injury Dec. 4 at Green Bay. He started six games, appeared in 10 games and caught 15 passes for 99 yards. His longest reception was for 12 yards. He scored one touchdown. He missed two games early this season with a hamstring injury.

Miller injured the same right shoulder in the final game of his junior year in the Orange Bowl against Clemson. He reinjured the shoulder just before the start of the 2014 season. He missed what would have been his senior year and returned for a fifth season in 2015, switching from quarterback to wide receiver.

The Texans (7-6) are tied for first place in the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts.
