Penn State wins Big Ten East, throttles MSU 45-12

Penn State beat Michigan State 45-12 to clinch a spot in the Big Ten Championship game and win the Big Ten East Division

Ohio State needed Penn State to lose to make the title game. The Buckeyes were ranked No.2 in last week’s college football playoff rankings, meaning they could make the playoffs regardless after beating No. 3 Michigan 30-27 in 2 overtimes.

The Nitany Lions scored 35 unanswered points, after Michigan State took a 12-10 lead into halftime. Trace McSorely threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Chris Goodwin late in the third, kicking off a string of five unanswered scores by Penn State.

Penn State will play West Division champ Wisconsin in Indianapolis on Dec. 3 for the conference championship.
