Bengals-Broncos key players

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati, QB

It’s hard to imagine anything being more key to this game than how well Dalton plays. He is 2-6 in prime time games, with his most recent performance being the three-interception meltdown against Cleveland when he posted a 2.0 passer rating.

Adam Jones, Cincinnati, CB

Cornerbacks are always going to be key against a quarterback like Peyton Manning, but Jones could play an even bigger role as a returner against a Broncos team that ranks near the bottom of the league in punt and kickoff return coverage.

Eric Winston, Cincinnati, RT

The newest player on the roster is expected to make his first start as a Bengal after moving into the role in the second half of last week’s game at Cleveland. His veteran presence could have a calming effect on a team that has struggled under bright lights.

Todd Davis, Denver, LB

The undrafted rookie, whom the Broncos signed off waivers four weeks ago, will see signifiacant snaps tonight and could even start at WIL backer with Brandon Marshall and Danny Treveathan injured.

Peyton Manning, Denver, QB

The 14 completions he’s had each of the last two weeks are his fewest since completing seven in the 2008 season finale when he only played the first quarter. He’s hardly looked like vintage Manning, and the Bengals are hoping to make that the case again tonight.

Julius Thomas, Denver, TE

He leads all tight ends with 12 touchdown receptions, which is one shy of the league league among all players. He has 24 TDs in his last 25 games, and the Bengals have struggled against tight ends for much of the season.
