Maualuga inactive for Battle of Ohio

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap is active for tonight’s game against the Cleveland Browns, but linebacker Rey Maualuga is not.

Both players were listed as questionable after suffering injuries – a shoulder for Dunlap and a calf for Maualuga – in Sunday’s 16-10 win at Pittsburgh.

Right tackle Andre Smith suffered a concussion against the Steelers and was declared out for the Browns game on Wednesday’s injury report.

Eric Winston is expected to start for Smith, while Vinny Rey should get the call for Maualuga.

The other five inactives for the Bengals are wide receiver Mario Alford, tight end C.J. Uzomah, cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris and defensive tackles Marcus Hardison and Pat Sims.

That means defensive end Margus Hunt is active for the first time this season. A second-round pick in 2013, Hunt appeared in 10 games as a rookie and 12 last year despite battling a back injury, but he has been a healthy scratch in every game this season.

Hunt had two tackles, including one for a loss, in last year’s primetime game against the Browns. He will be an insurance policy for Dunlap tonight in case he re-aggravates the shoulder injury.

Maualuga has started all seven games this year. He hasn’t missed a game since sitting out Weeks 7-10 last year with a hamstring injury.

The inactives for the Browns are quarterback Josh McCown, wide receivers Andrew Hawkins and Brian Hartline, cornerbacks Joe Haden and Jordan Poyer, safety Donte Whitner and linebacker Jayson DiManche, the former Bengal.
