Browns owe him $16 million, but Cleveland gets Houston's 2018 second-round pick.
Osweiler was acquired in an offseason deal with Houston. It was an NBA-style deal, where the Browns took on Osweiler’s money in return for a 2018 second round pick.
Initial reports out of camp suggested Osweiler would be the Browns starter. He was given ample opportunity to solidify that standing, but rookie DeShone Kizer jumped him.
Cleveland had reportedly been shopping him, but unsurprisingly couldn’t find a taker.
Second-year signal caller Cody Kessler is likely Cleveland’s No. 2 quarterback.
