The Bengals on Tuesday claimed cornerback and special teamer Chris Lammons off waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs, the team they’ll face in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game, according to multiple media reports. NFL reporter Ari Meirov was the first to report the news.

The move won’t become official until Feb. 13, the day after the Super Bowl, but he can’t return to the Chiefs’ practice squad. Lammons was in on 82 percent (23 snaps) of the Chiefs’ special teams snaps vs. the Jaguars last week.

Lammons, 26, played the last three seasons for the Chiefs after one season with the Dolpins. He appeared in 17 games for Kansas City this season.

The Bengals and Chiefs face off at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
