HS Roundup 2/1: Fort Loramie, Valley View girls wrap up league titles

Two area teams took home league titles in girls basketball on Saturday.

Valley View beat Brookville 56-27 to win the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern division and Fort Loramie knocked off Anna 61-44 to win the Shelby County Athletic League.

Aubrey Stupp scored 22 points and Claire Henson tacked on 12 points for Valley View, which improved to 18-3 overall 12-0 in league play with one game remaining.

Anna jumped out to an early lead but a 20-5 third quarter run from unbeaten Fort Loramie was too much to overcome.

Dana Rose scored 11 of her 18 points in that run and Fort Loramie moved to 19-0 overall and 11-0 in league play.

Girls Basketball

Alter 38, Badin 37: Annabelle Hacker hit a basket with under three seconds to play to give Alter the win.

Arcanum 53, Russia 44: Madelyn Fearon chipped in 18 points and Taylor Gray added 10 for Arcanum. Ashley Scott scored 12 points for Russia.

Bellbrook 54, Monroe 53: Breann Pryce totaled 14 points and Bailey Zerby added 11 for Bellbrook, which wrapped up the regular season with a 19-3 record. Brooklyn Miltenberger led Monroe with 14 points.

Benjamin Logan 46, Graham 36: Savannah Pavoni paced Ben Logan with 12 points and Kerry Copenhaver added 11.

Cin. Country Day 76, Cin. Christian 22: Lizzie Grooms had 10 points in a losing effort for Cin. Christian.

Dayton Christian 41, East Dayton Christian 32: Alena Seaquist finished with 12 points and Kayla Ogburn added 10 for Dayton Christian.

Fairfield 44, Hamilton 40: Karlee Mills paced Fairfield with 17 points and Tori Williams added 12. Fairfield rallied with an 18-6 run in the final quarter.

Fairmont 48, Beavercreek 21: Mallory Hullinger chipped in 14 points and Madison Bartley 11 for Fairmont. Fairmont stormed out to an early lead, holding Beavercreek to four points in the first half to improve to 18-2.

Franklin Monroe 43, Troy Christian 22: Franklin Monroe improved to 18-2 with the victory.

Greenon 57, Southeastern 35: Reagan Ware posted 14 points and Delaney Benedict tacked on 10 to lead Greenon.

Lakota East 45, Oak Hills 44: Madison French finished with 14 points and Bri Harris 12 to help Lakota East hold off an Oak Hills rally effort.

Lebanon 63, Springfield 26: Kendall Folley finished with 12 points for Lebanon, which had 13 different players score in the win.

Lehman Catholic 49, Bradford 44: Anna Cianciolo and Lauren McFarland put up 13 points apiece and Rylie McIver added 10 to lead Lehman Catholic. Rylee Canan totaled 12 points for Bradford.

Lima Shawnee 59, Coldwater 38: Annelise Harlamert and Riley Rismiller each tallied 12 points in the loss for Coldwater.

Mason 64, Middletown 39: Sa’Mill Calhoun chipped in 16 points and Aryanna Ingram added 10 in a losing effort for Middletown.

Mechanicsburg 63, Fairbanks 21: Grace Forrest recorded 14 of her 17 points in the first half to help ‘Burg move to 14-0 in conference play. Kasey Schipfer added 16 points and a career-high four blocks and Emma Jones chipped in 10 points.

New Bremen 60, Celina 30: Kira Bertke tallied 20 points, Kaylee Freund added 14 and Madison Cordonnier 12 to lead New Bremen.

Northmont 49, Miamisburg 32: Anna Long led Miamisburg with 13 points.

Piqua 53, Greenville 47: Tylah Yeomans, who holds the school record for points in a season, paced Piqua with 23. The previous record was held by Wendi Ousley from 1984-85.

Purcell Marian 64, Chaminade Julienne 56, 2OT: Courtney Redd of CJ sent the game into overtime twice, hitting a basket at the buzzer for the first OT and forcing the second with a free throw, but Purcell Marian prevailed.

Ross 49, Northwest 31: Hannah Lainhart had 15 points to lead the way for Ross, which took control with a 12-3 run in the third quarter.

Springboro 44, Trotwood 28: Peyton Nation paced Springboro with 10 points and ‘Boro improved to 9-2 in conference play. Quantaijah Huffman and Raeven Raye-Redmond each had 12 points for Trotwood.

Tecumseh 59, Jonathan Alder 48: Emma Garber spurred Tecumseh with 16 points, Makenzie Chinn added 14 and Gabrielle Russell hauled in 12 rebounds.

Urbana 46, Indian Lake 45, OT: Maleah Murphy and Samantha Rooney turned in 14 points apiece and Claire Keely hauled in 10 rebounds for Urbana.

Wayne 65, Centerville 51: Amy Velasco tallied 20 points and Cotie McMahon added 15 in the loss for Centerville.

Waynesville 53, Madison 49: Leah Butterbaugh totaled 18 points and Kenzie Purkey added 16 points with 17 rebounds for Waynesville.

Boys Basketball

Beavercreek 58, Alter 55: Adam Duvall chipped in 18 points, Gabe Phillips added 12 and Beavercreek held off a second-half rally effort from Alter. Conor Stolly paced Alter with 14 points.

Botkins 64, New Bremen 52: Jayden Priddy-Powell put up 22 points, Jacob Pleiman added 19 and Zane Paul 15 for Botkins. Nolan Bornhorst recorded his 1,000th career point for New Bremen.

Emmanuel Christian 58, Southeastern 55, OT: Casey Swank totaled 19 points, including five three-point baskets, to lead Emmanuel Christian.

Fairmont 64, Bellbrook 51: Anthony Johnson turned in 21 points and Danye Lewis added 13 off the bench to pace Fairmont.

Fort Loramie 37, Marion Local 20: Nate Meyer scored 19 points, including a 7-for-8 performance from the foul line, to lead Fort Loramie in the second annual Impact Game.

Hamilton 61, Harrison 51: Trey Robinson led the way for Hamilton with 16 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Ke’von Burnett added 13 points off the bench.

Jackson Center 57, Minster 46: Aidan Reichert led the Jackson Center attack with 22 points and Camdyn Reese added 10. Justin Nixon paced Minster with 14 points.

Lakota East 74, Mentor 68: Nate Johnson poured in 30 points, Alex Mangold added 16 and Kaden Fuhrmann 15 for Lakota East.

Lehman Catholic 55, Bradford 24: Luke Frantz scored 14 points, Brandon O’Leary added 11 and Lehman Catholic improved to 9-8, marking the first time the program has had a winning record since the 2014-15 season.

Milton-Union 84, Yellow Springs 27: Sam Case scored 22 points, Nate Brumbaugh tacked on 15 and Brandon Lavy 12 to lead Milton-Union.

Oakwood 81, Fairborn 67: Darren Rubin poured in 25 points and Daniel Hu added 17 to help Oakwood win a sixth consecutive game.

Ross 55, Colerain 31: Cole Gronas turned in 20 points and Max Stepaniak added 17 points with nine rebounds for Ross.

Russia 50, Ansonia 39: Mason Dapore led Russia with 14 points and Zane Shappie added 12.

Spencerville 48, New Knoxville 33: Patrick Covert recorded 15 points in the loss for New Knoxville.

St. Henry 53, Celina 28: Bennett Gels finished with 15 points, Ben Evers added 12 and Carter Ontrop hauled in 11 rebounds for St. Henry.

Tri-Village 54, Newton 45: Kleyson Wehrley posted 18 points in a losing effort for Newton.

Troy Christian 49, Miami Valley 36: Isaac Gray led Troy Christian with 15 points. Pruthvi Choudary had 19 points for Miami Valley.

Upper Scioto Valley 66, Coldwater 61: Ethan Post put up 13 points and Noah Miller added 12 in the loss for Coldwater.

West Liberty-Salem 72, Graham 58: Holden Nease had 22 points to lead four players in double-digit scoring for WLS. Matthew Loffing added 16 and Nick Burden 12.

Gymnastics

Anderson “Win the Day” Invitational: Keala McCurry won in bars and vault along with a fifth-place finish in the all around to help Miamisburg place third in the tournament.

Swimming

Metro Buckeye Conference Championships: The Dayton Christian boys and girls each placed first, adding two new school records and 41 personal records on the night. Elijah Joyce set a school record in the 200 individual medley and the boys 400 free relay team also recorded a record time.
