HS Roundup 1/28: Gordon sets all-time scoring mark for Sidney

Virginia Tech commit Andre Gordon put on a show Monday, scoring 42 points and becoming Sidney boys basketball’s all-time points leader in a 65-61 win versus visiting Wapakoneta.

Gordon passed the mark of 1,745 points set by Dewayne McCluskey in 1988 on a free throw in the third quarter.

Gordon’s last two points, a pair of foul shots with three seconds to play, sealed the win for Sidney.

Ratez Roberts, the school’s all-time leader in rebounds, also went over the 500 mark for his career.

Sidney, tied with Butler atop the Greater Western Ohio Conference North, improved to 12-3 overall.

Boys Basketball

Fort Loramie 53, New Knoxville 19: Fort Loramie, led by Nick Brandewie with 12 points, opened the game on a 17-0 run to pull away early. It marked win No. 100 for head coach Corey Britton.

Hoston 53, Newton 52: John Leist dropped in the game-winning foul shots with 1.9 seconds to play, finishing with 19 to lead Houston. Ryan Mollette scored 17 points for Newton.

Girls Basketball

Badin 60, Northwest 52: Emma Broermann scored 24 points to help Badin rally from a double-digit deficit in the first half. Emily Maher added 15 points and Shelby Nusbaum scored all nine of her points in the second half.

Beavercreek 77, Springfield 34: Taylor Steinbrunner put up 14 points and Maci Rhoades and Alyssa Hargrove-Hall added 13 apiece to pace ‘Creek. Mickayla Perdue tallied 22 points for Springfield.

Bellbrook 50, Miamisburg 43: With a 16-4 run in the second quarter Bellbrook recovered from a slow start. Mara Mescher led the way with 13 points and Kayla Paul tacked on 12. Anna Long paced Miamisburg with 14 points.

Ben Logan 41, Northwestern 36: Savannah Pavoni chipped in 14 points and Ben Logan held off a Northwestern rally attempt in the final quarter. Abbie Grieser totaled 17 points for Northwestern.

Centerville 73, Tecumseh 56: Cotie McMahon scored 23 points and Sam Chable and Amy Velasco tacked on 17 apiece to help Centerville improve to 17-1. Corinne Thomas tallied 28 points and Presley Griffitts added 21 for Tecumseh.

Greenville 71, Stivers 24: Haleigh Mayo-Behnken paced Greenville with 16 points and Morgan Gilbert and Jada Garland added 12 apiece.

Kenton Ridge 49, Greenon 40: Mikala Morris paced Kenton Ridge with 21 points. Delaney Benedict scored 18 points to lead Greenon.

Fairfield 52, Lebanon 48: Zahrya Bailey finished with 14 points and Tori Williams added 12 points with 12 rebounds to help Fairfield hold off a Lebanon rally. Kendall Folley led Lebanon with 17 points and Logan Mueller added 14.

Mason 66, Hamilton 48: Sammie Puisis scored 25 points and Megan Wagner added 18 for Mason. Leah Smith had 15 points and CiCi Riggins 14 for Hamilton.

Milton-Union 44, Tri-County North 25: Kristen Dickison poured in 29 points with five rebounds and six steals for Milton-Union. Shyanna Baker paced TCN with 10 points.

Northridge 47, Meadowdale 31: Diamonique Story scored 13 points and Loraine Reeder added 11 for Northridge, which sank nine three-pointers in the victory.

Urbana 43, Riverside 37: Alaina Lyons finished with 11 points and seven rebounds and Marissa Horn chipped in 10 points for Urbana.

Valley View 86, West Carrollton 40: Aubrey Stupp scored 27 points, Megan Black added 14 and Claire Henson 13 for Valley View. Erecca Liva led West Carrollton with 13 points.

Waynesville 48, Monroe 42: Unbeaten Waynesville improved to 16-0 with 11 point efforts from Leah Butterbaugh and Lynzie Hartshorn. Alyssa Beckett tallied 10 points for Monroe.

Girls Bowling

Greeneview 1651, Fairbanks 1565: Anna Willingham rolled a 356 series to lead Greeneview.
