HS Roundup 2/1: Hampton leads Wayne boys in win over ‘Creek

Ronnie Hampton had 11 points in the second quarter alone to help visiting Wayne stake an early lead, beating Beavercreek 62-53 in boys basketball on Friday.

Hampton finished with 25 points and Rashad McKee chipped in 10.

Chris Herbort paced ‘Creek with 19 points.

Wayne will host Dunbar on Monday before closing out the season with conference games against Springfield and Centerville.

Centerville, winners of eight straight, gave Springfield its first conference loss on Friday. Springfield sits atop the Greater Western Ohio Conference East at 9-1; Wayne is second at 8-2 and Centerville third at 7-2.

Boys Basketball

Arcanum 39, Franklin Monroe 37: Wade Meeks scored 11 points to lead Arcanum. Ethan Conley tallied 12 points for Franklin Monroe.

Butler 85, Greenville 47: Butler opened the game on a 24-point swing, improving to 16-2 overall and 10-2 in conference play.

Brookville 49, Monroe 29: Jacob Gudorf and Wade Turner netted 12 points apiece for Brookville, which moved to 15-2 and 7-2 in conference play.

Coldwater 69, New Knoxville 35: Cole Frilling tallied 25 points and Marcus Bruns added 22 points with 10 rebounds.

Emmanuel Christian 75, Legacy Christian 60: Adonis Davis had 23 points with nine rebounds, Fred Shropshire added 17 and Emmanuel Christian snapped Legacy Christian’s 16-game win streak.

Fenwick 44, Carroll 40: C.J. Napier scored 18 points to help hold off a fourth-quarter rally from Carroll. Austin Schafer had 17 points in a losing effort for Carroll.

Franklin 73, Valley View 66: Zach Minton recorded 23 points and Brayden Hall chipped in 18 for Franklin.

Jackson Center 51, Anna 47: The loss marked the first of the season for Anna, which fell to 15-1.

Lakota East 57, Colerain 45: Bash Wieland led the way with 26 points, Kaden Fuhrmann and Will Johnston added 11 apiece and Grant Spicer hauled in 13 rebounds for East.

London 48, Bellefontaine 45: Jack Clement netted his 1,000th career point for Bellefontaine.

Miamisburg 52, Springboro 40: Corey Hartman turned in a career-high 27 points and Brett Hensley tacked on 10 to lead Miamisburg. Connor Grevey finished with 21 points for ‘Boro.

Middletown 67, Lakota West 55: Kei’aunte Powell paced the Middies with 23 points and Rob Thompson tacked on 15. Osean Anuforo led Lakota West with 13 points.

National Trail 58, Tri-Village 38: Travis Hunt, Cameron Harrison and Zach Woodall each put up 12 points for Trail. Derek Eyer led Tri-Village with 14 points.

Oak Hills 46, Fairfield 37: Devin Turner and Zavian Ricks scored 14 points apiece for Fairfield in the loss.

Piqua 64, Tippecanoe 53: Trey Richmond had 22 points and Qurri Tucker tacked on 14 to help Piqua pulled away in the second half. Nolan Mader led Tippecanoe with 19 points.

Sidney 56, Troy 48: Andre Gordon scored nine of his 25 points in the final quarter to help Sidney pull out the win. Darren Taborn added 14 points and Sidney moved to 14-3 overall and 10-2 in conference play. Caillou Monroe tallied 15 points for Troy.

St. Henry 60, Parkway 44: Caden Niekamp recorded 25 points with eight rebounds to pace St. Henry. Caleb Kinney scored 16 points for Parkway.

Stebbins 62, Fairborn 57: Shaunn Monroe poured in 31 points but Fairborn was upset after Stebbins pulled ahead in the fourth quarter.

Troy Christian 56, Yellow Springs 41: Connor Peters scored 11 points to help Troy Christian stay in contention for a Metro Buckeye Conference title.

Twin Valley South 74, Mississinawa Valley 42: Jayden Bassler put up 23 points for Twin Valley South. D.J. Howell had 10 points for Mississinawa.

Versailles 66, Minster 34: Connor VanSkyrock scored 20 points, Evan Hiestand had 15 and Michael Stammen 12 to pace Versailles. Mike Ketner led Minster with 12 points.

West Jefferson 82, Mechanicsburg 41: Ben Casey paced West Jeff with 20 points and Trent Kincade added 18. Chris Taylor led ‘Burg with 12 points.

West Liberty-Salem 59, Northeastern 35: Holden Nease had 22 points and Jack Eggleston and Eli McGill added 10 apiece for WLS.
