HS Roundup 1/16: Late surge pushes ‘Burg boys past Wayne

Miamisburg outscored Wayne 24-9 in the final quarter to rally and pull away for a 51-42 boys basketball final on Thursday.

Anthony Coppock led a balanced attack for ‘Burg with 12 points and Luke Copsey turned in a solid defensive performance.

Alex Ball and Colin Murphy also scored in double figures for ‘Burg.

The win bumped Miamisburg to 11-4 overall and 5-2 in league play; Wayne, which has lost four straight, dropped to 7-6 and 4-3.

Girls Basketball

Anna 44, Russia 28: Ella Doseck scored 12 of her 17 points in the first half to spur a hot start for Anna. Jessica York led Russia with 15 points.

Bethel 64, Covington 47: Kenna Gray posted 15 points and Karly Moore 13 for Bethel.

Coldwater 45, Delphos St. John’s 42: Annelise Harlamert had 15 points and Lauren Gilliland added 12 points with 16 rebounds to pace Coldwater.

Dayton Christian 40, Dixie 28: Camryn Collinsworth spurred Dayton Christian with 17 points and Alena Seaquist added 10.

Fort Loramie 87, Houston 15: Taylor Ratermann connected on the 125th three-point basket of her career, a school record for unbeaten Fort Loramie.

Fort Recovery 50, New Knoxville 28: Kierra Wendel finished with 15 points and Val Muhlenkamp 11 for Fort Recovery. Ellie Gabel led New Knoxville with 10 points.

Franklin Monroe 61, Arcanum 31: Chloe McGlinch led four players in double-digit scoring with 17 points for FM. Madelyn Fearon had 13 points for Arcanum.

Greeneview 61, Triad 35: Sylvie Sonneman scored 14 of her 19 points in the second half to spur Greeneview. Rachel Strickle added 16 and Faith Rutherford 15.

Legacy Christian 89, Jefferson 26: Kathleen Ahner and Emma Hess combined for 44 points to pace Legacy Christian.

Lehman Catholic 67, Ridgemont 34: Rylie McIver scored 18 points, Heidi Toner 12 and Anna Cianciolo 10 for Lehman Catholic, which clinched at least a share of the NWCC title.

Marion Local 33, Minster 32: Brooke Homan netted the game-winning shot with seven seconds to play for Marion Local, which finished the game on an 8-1 run.

Mechanicsburg 56, Greenon 34: Morgan Hamby and Emma Jones keyed a 20-3 run in the third quarter to help ‘Burg pull away. Kasey Schipfer led the way with 18 points along with 12 rebounds.

Miami East 57, Ansonia 33: Kayly Fetters tallied 10 points to lead a balanced attack that saw nine players score for Miami East.

New Bremen 45, Parkway 28: Madison Cordonnier totaled 16 points and Chloe Bornhorst 12 for New Bremen, which opened the game on a 9-0 run.

Newton 43, Tri-County North 18: Camryn Gleason put up 11 points and Kailey Heisey tacked on 10 for Newton.

St. Henry 57, Versailles 56: Addy Vaughn chipped in 19 points, Alyssa Buschur 15 and Marlee Vaugh 10 to lead St. Henry.

Valley View 56, Preble Shawnee 37: Aubrey Stupp helped Valley View remain unbeaten in league play with a 21-point performance. Campbell Jewell led Preble Shawnee with 13 points.

West Liberty-Salem 47, Catholic Central 30: Selena Weaver put up 20 points to help WLS improve to 12-1 overall and remain unbeaten in league play. Abbigail Peterson recorded 14 points for Catholic Central.

Bellefontaine 2459, London 2269: Landon Gibbs carded games of 221 and 224 for Bellefontaine.

Carroll 2455, McNicholas 2282: Michael Goubeaux shot a 408 series for undefeated Carroll.

Mechanicsburg 2833, Urbana 2657: Peyton Leeson had games of 246 and 245 and Jack Wolf added a 224 game to lead ‘Burg.

Northwestern 2805, Ben Logan 2485: Brady Stover rolled a 204 game and Zach Boger a 389 series in the loss for Ben Logan.

Tippecanoe 2377, Miamisburg 2118: Colin Maalouf had a 232 game and James Ridgeway a 222 game for Tipp. Caleb Witt bowled a 397 series for ‘Burg.

Girls Bowling

Ben Logan 2424, Northwestern 2306: Erica Warne tallied games of 247 and 235 and Kaylee Nicholas games of 222 and 210 to lead Ben Logan.

Carroll 2003, McNicholas 1617: Haley Garrett posted a 324 series and Carroll improved to 8-1 overall.

Miamisburg 1705, Tippecanoe 1626: Maddie Ginn rolled a 398 series for ‘Burg. Tipp was led by Taylor Horne with a 154 game.

Urbana 2189, Mechanicsburg 2135: Samantha Hoover shot a 332 series and Madison Boggs a 321 for ‘Burg.

Gymnastics

Turpin Quad Meet: Molly Witzerman finished first on the Floor, Vault and All Around and Keala McCurry won the Bars event to lead Miamisburg to victory.

Wrestling

Centerville 31, Beavercreek 24: In a matchup of the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked teams in the GMVWA Poll, No. 3 Centerville held off No. 2 Beavercreek. Simon Taylor, Spencer Meng, Damion Ryan and Luke Acuna got Centerville off to a hot start with wins in the first four weight divisions.
