HS Roundup 9/29: Thurgood, Belmont football cruise in DH at Welcome

Thurgood Marshall 49, Cle. Collinwood 6: Ayyoub Muhammed’s first three completions went for touchdowns, with the quarterback throwing for five scores on the day. Michael Elmore hauled in three of them, including two over 50 yards.

Belmont 52, Dunbar 14: Jayzon Wagner racked up 119 yards on 16 carries with three touchdowns and Rian Reaves tacked on 111 yards with two touchdowns on ten carries to pace Belmont.

Boys Soccer

Continental 3, New Knoxville 1: Joseph Baende netted the lone goal for New Knoxville.

West Liberty-Salem 8, Franklin Monroe 1: Ian Wolfe led the way for WLS with four goals and Mason Powell tacked on two more.

Girls Soccer

Anna 7, St. Marys 1: Taylor Noll poured in four goals and Taylor Kauffman added two more to help Anna improve to 11-0-1.

Chaminade Julienne 7, Tri-County North 0: Katie Baird scored twice and Peyton Burrows had a goal with two assists to lead CJ.

West Liberty-Salem 3, Bethel 2: Emily Hollar had two goals and Rachel Davis added the third for WLS.

Girls Volleyball

Eaton 3, Talawanda 0: Ava Miller had 10 kills, Maley Tinstman 25 assists and Annika Gels 15 digs to lead Eaton.

Mechanicsburg 3, Fairlawn 1: Emma Dunham had 19 kills with 11 blocks, Elly Schipfer 15 kills with six blocks and Mallory Blakeman 21 digs to lead ‘Burg.

Tippecanoe 3, Bellbrook 0: Rachel Wildermuth had 10 kills with four blocks and Abby Hughes added 13 digs and three assists as Tipp knocked off state-ranked Bellbrook.

West Liberty-Salem 2, Urbana 0: WLS rebounded after a two-set loss to Jackson Center. Alex Burton had 17 kills with 10 digs and Kaylee Harrison 16 kills and 16 digs on the day.

Van Wert Invitational: New Knoxville defeated Elida, New Bremen and Versailles to go unbeaten at the invitational.

Cross Country

Charske Firebird Invitational: Centerville, paced by Ben Burkett’s second-place finish, won the boys silver race. Northwestern’s Drew Blazer finished first in the blue race. On the girls side Lebanon won the blue race with Kassidy Carpenter of Northwestern finishing first.

Buck Creek Invitational: Springfield Shawnee finished second to Hilliard Davidson for the boys. Lucas Houk of Wayne was second individually. West Liberty-Salem won the girls meet, led by runner-up Megan Adams.

Erin Nance Memorial: Miamisburg, which placed four runners in the top ten, won the boys race. Parker Hines led the way with a 17:16.3 finish. ‘Burg placed second in the girls race.
