HS Roundup 2/6: Wayne secures at least split of GWOC American title

The Wayne girls basketball team wrapped up the regular season with an emphatic 96-43 win versus Springfield, clinching at least a share of the Greater Western Ohio Conference American division title.

Wayne finished with a 20-2 record overall and a 12-1 mark in conference play.

Fairmont, which sits at 19-2 and 11-1, will host Miamisburg on Saturday for a chance to split the division title.

Girls Basketball

Bradford 41, Newton 29: Austy Miller tallied 25 points to lead Bradford. Katelyn Walters hauled in double-digit rebounds for Newton.

Covington 44, National Trail 39: Josie Crowell chipped in 17 points and Morgan Kimmel added 11 to pace Covington.

Eaton 52, Preble Shawnee 47: Eaton rallied with a 10-point swing in the final quarter to earn the win. Kendra Worley scored 16 points for Preble Shawnee.

Fort Recovery 44, St. Henry 36: Val Muhlenkamp and Alli Vaughn each recorded 13 points to help Fort Recovery move to 7-1 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Franklin 57, Waynesville 54: Jordan Rogers poured in 30 points and Franklin upset the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwest division leader.

Marion Local 56, New Bremen 43: Heidi Rethman turned in 25 points, Sammy Hoelscher added 14 and Brooke Homan 10 for Marion Local. Madison Cordonnier tallied 17 points for New Bremen.

Versailles 51, Coldwater 49: Lindsey Winner finished with 18 for Versailles, which rallied from a 19-point deficit. Lauren Gilliland chipped in 23 points and Riley Rismiller 11 in a losing effort for Coldwater.

Boys Bowling

Carroll 2426, Greenville 2311: Mitchell Jackson shot a 375 series for Carroll. Justin Hadden led Greenville with a 390 series.

Girls Bowling

Greenville 1961, Carroll 1895: Kelli Kretschmar paced Greenville with a 393 series. Heather Thomas had a 311 for Carroll.
