On paper it looked like a good matchup at Howell Field on Thursday — unbeaten Tippecanoe against a CJ team that lost in the Division III state championship last season.
The Eagles got off to a slow start, losing three of their first four games this season, but they sure looked like a contender on a windy afternoon, run-ruling the Red Devils 11-1 in five innings.
CJ (2-3) spotted Tipp (10-1) an early 1-0 lead on a first inning RBI single from Cole Barhorst.
The Eagles battled back to score three times in the second, four in the third and four more runs in the fourth.
Nick Wissman went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and 3 RBI. The junior right-hander also threw a complete game with eight strikeouts.
