Tri-Village's Clayton Murphy wins NCAA 1500M title, Versailles' Prakel fifth

Clayton Murphy, a Tri-Village High School grad and junior at the University of Akron, won the 1500 meters at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.

It's the second NCAA title for Murphy, who who won the NCAA 800 meter indoor title in March.

Fellow Darke County native and Versailles High School grad Sam Prakel finished fifth. The junior at the University of Oregon finished with a time of 3:40.84. Murphy won with a time of 3:36.38.

Prakel helped bolster Oregon, which was leading the men's team standings halfway through Friday's portion of the championships.
