The University of Dayton released a statement Friday in regards to the status of Dayton Flyers junior forward Sam Miller, who faces allegations of underage drinking followed by a misdemeanor assault charge for his alleged role in a disturbance in jail.

“We cannot go into specifics due to federal laws protecting the privacy of students,” the UD statement read. “The University, the Division of Athletics and the men’s basketball program set high standards for the behavior of all our students, and hold them accountable for violations of the Code of Conduct in addition to any charges they may face through the legal system. Sam Miller has not participated in organized team activities this week and as this is the end of the summer term, no team activities are scheduled until the start of the school year.”
