BEVERLY HILLS, California – YouTube has put on hold a planned sequel to "Simply Complicated," a documentary about singer Demi Lovato, in the wake of a possible  overdose this week.

Susanne Daniels, YouTube's global original programming chief, said the new documentary, which has been filming over the past year, was due to be released this fall but will now be delayed, at least until 2019.

"We put the pause button on," Daniels said. "We want her to get well, and she'll decide what she wants to say about this. She's had real struggles, and she's trying so hard, and I think the outpouring of sympathy for her is reflective of the way she shared her battles so publicly, so honestly."

"Complicated," released last fall, has attracted nearly 20 million views. "It went over so well with her fans... there was just a clamoring for more Demi. So we said, 'OK, let's do more Demi,' and she was game," Daniels said.  The new documentary, a continuation of the first, "follows her life, really for the past year. Like the first one, she talks about her struggles a lot."
