Chance of rain through the evening; Hot temperatures return Wednesday

The chance for rain and thunderstorms will decrease throughout the afternoon, but the possibility for showers remains through sunset, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Today will be cloudy with temperatures ranging from the upper 70s to low 80s.

The overnight low will be around 67 degrees.

Tuesday could get off to a foggy start, but overall will be dry. However, there is the potential for some rain and thunderstorms, according to NWS. Temperatures will be slightly warmer, reaching the mid to high 80s.

The low overnight will be considerably cooler with 71 degrees.

Thunderstorms and showers will return Wednesday afternoon and into the evening. Strong to severe storms will be possible, according to NWS.

Wednesday will be hot with highs approaching the 90 degree mark.

Thursday is partly sunny and warm with the high near 84 degrees. Partial clouds decorate Thursday’s nighttime skies with lows falling around the mid-60s.
