Weekend could bring taste of winter

Get ready for a weather whiplash over the next 5 days. Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell says Mother Nature is going to give us a big swing in temperatures.

First, much milder air will arrive with gusty southwest winds Thursday into Friday. High temperatures are expected to near 70 degrees by Friday afternoon.

While 70 degree temperatures are unusual late in November, we should stay shy of the record of 75 degrees from back in 1930.

But don’t get too use to the warm late fall air.

A major storm system will move into the Miami Valley late Friday into Saturday bringing with it strong winds and much colder temperatures as we head into the weekend. Temperatures will drop from near 70 degrees Friday afternoon into the 30s in less than 24 hours.

On top of that, as cold air crosses the warmer waters of the Great Lakes, moisture will likely be picked up by gusty winds, forming snow showers downwind. This could bring flurries all the way across the Miami Valley late Saturday into Sunday.

Don’t expect the snow to accumulate though, Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell explains, as the ground will be too warm for anything to stick after the recent mild weather.

Either way, it will be a dramatic reminder that winter is only a few weeks away!
