The shop will be open during its regular Saturday hours, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and customers are free to enjoy the fashion show as they shop. However, owner of Vidia’s, Davia Allen, said the show will primarily be virtual and she encourages people to tune-in on Vidia’s Closet’s Facebook or Instagram.
As people watch the fashion show virtually, they can participate in the event by guessing which look is inspired by which Sex and the City character — Carrie, Maranda or Charlet. Answers will be accepted by commenting during the Live show, then prizes will be sent via email or Facebook messenger, according to Allen.
Since opening in Sept. 2020, Vidia’s Closet has been all about making big city fashion accessible to downtown Dayton. Combined with Allen’s personal fandom for Sex and the City, a themed fashion show was just a matter of time.
“We’re just giving people an idea of how to pair things together,” Allen said. “We just wanted to incorporate some of the Sex and the City looks and incorporate that with Vidia’s Closet. “(We wanted) to help people you know, pair some things together because a lot of people don’t know, you know, what to put together or what looks nice with what.”
Allen is a mother of three, a wife and one of three devoted sisters. The oldest sister, Vidia LaKisha Foster, unexpectedly died in 2013. Vidia was a supervisor at the YWCA Dayton and an advocate for teens.
Vidia’s closet was named in Allen’s sister’s honor.
