AKRON, Ohio — A former northeast Ohio police officer who prosecutors say stalked and attacked his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Eric Paull, of Akron, pleaded guilty in September to aggravated assault, stalking and other offenses. He was sentenced on Monday.

Prosecutors said the 19-year veteran attacked Alexis Dekaney in front of her 3-year-old son in November after she ended their relationship.

Prosecutors said Paull stalked her, sent her handwritten notes and left bullets on her boyfriend's truck.

Paull was placed on administrative leave from the time he was arrested earlier this year until he retired on Aug. 17. Northeast Ohio Media Group reports that his plea deal ensured he'll never be allowed to work as a police officer.
