Mom sent to prison in fatal Preble Co. fire case

The mother of two Preble County children who were killed in a fire while she was not home has been sent to prison.

Chastity Hall, 36, was sentenced to serve four years in prison after she was convicted of two counts each of child endangering and involuntary manslaughter.

Hall's children, 10-year-old Malea and 9-year-old Malachi, perished in a fire that destroyed their West Alexandria home in February.

Investigators said Hall left her children alone at home while she went out drinking when the fire occured.

Hall's attorney had argued that his client should be able to serve her sentence in county jail, but the judge decided her sentence should be served in a state penitentiary.
