Online retail giant Amazon will add an air cargo hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, according to a report from our news partner WCPO.
Amazon plans to invest more than $1 billion into the new hub, and plans to employ 2,700 people at the airport. Earlier today, the airport announced Frontier was adding three new, nonstop flights from the Cincinnati airport.
Amazon announced earlier this month that it plans to create more than 100,000 new positions by 2018. The company already employs 180,000 people.
Amazon does have a presence in Ohio, with a distribution center in central area of state. Back in July, the company announced it was hiring to fill thousands of jobs at its Etna Fulfillment Center. The company also has a brick-and-mortar store near the University of Cincinnati.
In October, the company said it was looking to hire 120,000 seasonal employees for the holiday season.
