The jet engine maker made several new announcements Tuesday. They include:
• Air India signed an overhaul engine services agreement related to the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its 96 CFM56-5B engines. The engines power the airline carrier’s Airbus A320 aircraft fleet. The value of the agreement was not disclosed.
The CFM56 engines are made by CFM International, a joint venture of GE Aviation and French company Snecma.
• International Lease Finance Corp., a subsidiary of American International Group Inc., announced Tuesday it has expanded its order for CFM International’s LEAP-1A engines to power an additional 20 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft. This newest engine order is valued at $510 million at list price.
• The Qantas Group Tuesday finalized its order for LEAP-1A engines to power 78 Airbus A320neo aircraft currently on order, according to engine-maker CFM International.
The engine order, originally announced as a commitment in 2012, has a value of $2 billion at list price, including spare engines.
• Japan Airlines signed a service and parts agreement with GE Aviation for its GE90 engine fleet. Under the agreement, Japan Airlines will perform the overhaul and certain repairs at its engine maintenance center in Narita, Japan. GE will provide material and repair management services. The Japanese carrier operates 24 GE90-powered Boeing 777 aircraft. The service deal is valued at close to $500 million, GE Aviation said.
• For an undisclosed amount, JetBlue Airways signed a 10-year agreement with GE Aviation for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its CF34-10E engine fleet that powers its 58 EMBRAER E190 aircraft, GE Aviation said.
• United Airlines selected GEnx-1B engines to power its order for 20 firm Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and the remaining 15 firm 787 Dreamliners from a previous order. The engine order for the 35 aircraft, plus five firmed aircraft options from 2012 (a total 40 aircraft), are valued at more than $1.8 billion list price, GE Aviation said.
• LATAM Airlines Group and GE Aviation signed a memorandum of understanding for a 10-year solution agreement for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of 120 CF6-80C2 engines that power its Boeing 767 aircraft. The agreement is valued at more than $500 million over the life of the contract.
LATAM also signed a second, separate memorandum of understanding with CFM International to purchase CFM56-5B engines to power 30 Airbus aircraft (25 firm A321ceo and five firm A320ceo aircraft), in addition to options for 20 additional Airbus A321neo aircraft.
Once finalized, this agreement will be valued at approximately $1.1 billion at list price, including spare engines and a long term maintenance agreement.
• In a $460 million deal, BOC Aviation Tuesday announced it selected the CFM engines CFM56 (for the A320ceo plane) and LEAP (for the A320neo plane) to power new Airbus A320 family aircraft.
• There was a second deal in two days from Air Canada. Tuesday’s deal was for a 15-year service agreement for GEnx engines in its Boeing 787 aircraft.
• HNA Aviation Holding Co. Ltd. signed a 15-year service agreement with CFM International to support its fleet of CFM56-5B engines.
• Korean Air committed to purchasing five GEnx-2B-powered Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental aircraft, and six GE90-115B-powered Boeing 777-300ERs. When the engine order is finalized, the list price of the engines will be valued at more than $800 million.
• Venezuelan airline Conviasa exercised its purchase options on seven additional CF34-10E-powered EMBRAER E190s, an engine order valued at more than $110 million.
GE Aviation, headquartered in suburban Cincinnati in Evendale, produces commercial and military jet engines and engine components, and offers engine services. Its joint venture CFM International, is headquartered in West Chester Twp. Also GE Aviation’s suppliers include an electrical power generation systems production site in Vandalia, TDI-GE Aviation also in Vandalia, and Elano Corp./Unison Industries Dayton in Beavercreek.
