U.S. Bank buys Kroger credit-card portfolio

CINCINNATI — U.S. Bank said it has purchased Kroger Co.’s credit-card portfolio from RBS Citizens N.A. and plans to offer additional financial services for Kroger customers.

Terms of the purchase weren’t disclosed.

The plan to offer new payment services would expand an 80-year-old financial services relationship between Kroger and what is now known as U.S. Bank.

Kroger has nearly 2,500 retail stores. U.S. Bank operates branch offices in 192 of those stores.
