U.S. Bank relocating area branches inside shopping centers

U.S. Bank is relocating several locations in the Dayton area as a result of a change in-store retail partners.

U.S. Bank is opened a new branch location Monday inside the Walmart store at 6244 Wilmington Pike, according to the company. The fifth largest bank by deposits in the Dayton area plans to open a second new Dayton location late March in Kroger in Huber Heights, 7747 Troy Pike.

The new Walmart U.S. Bank branch is a relocation from a Cub Foods that’s also on Wilmington Pike, said U.S. Bank spokeswoman Lisa Clark. That and two other Cub Food locations of the bank close Wednesday. U.S. Bank branches in Cub Foods in Trotwood, 5495 Salem Ave., and in Miamisburg, 8245 Springboro Pike, are closing.

U.S. Bank is switching in-store retail partners in Ohio from Cub Foods and Giant Eagle to Walmart. U.S. Bank is keeping its relationships with Meijer and Kroger, Clark said.

“You’re probably going to see more of those as the opportunities arise,” she said about Walmart locations.

Minneapolis, Minn.-based U.S. Bank has approximately $1.1 billion in deposits in the Dayton metro area, the fifth largest local banking institution by deposits, according to Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
