Butler County jet engine producer wins $13.2M UK order

A Butler County-based jet engine manufacturer has won a $13.2 million Department of Defense contract modification.

CFM International Inc., based in West Chester Twp., has been awarded $13,247,329 for a modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract to exercise an option for one spare P-8A Poseidon aircraft engine for the government of the United Kingdom.

Work will be performed in Villaroche, France (55 percent of the contract order); and Evendale, Ohio (45 percent). It’s expected to be completed in January 2020, the military said.

Foreign military sales funds in the amount of $13,247,329 are being obligated at time of the award.

A 50/50 joint company, West Chester Twp.-based CFM is owned by GE and French company Safran Group.

The Naval Air Systems Command at the U.S. Navy base in Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.
