CTI has established a new wholly-owned subsidiary company, Utility Composite Solutions International, Inc. (UCSI), which will be based in Dayton, co-located with Vector Composites, Inc. (VCI), another CTI-owned company.
VCI has a 30,000-square-foot facility on McCall Street, which is equipped for composite parts production with ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification for aerospace production, and which will support the production of composite utility poles, CTI said. UCSI will maintain an engineering and sales office in Wayne, Pa.
“This acquisition is a key step in the CTI strategic plan to expand our investments in composite products manufacturing,” said Lyle Dunbar, CTI chief executive. “The move of the UCSI manufacturing facility to Dayton will immediately increase the manufacturing capabilities of UCSI through co-location with our Vector Composites manufacturing facility.”
The U.S. market for electric distribution poles is valued at more than $9 billion, leaders of CTI believe.
CTI is an investment holding company founded by Dunbar, CEO of Ledcor Enterprises, Inc. Other CTI members based in Dayton include former National Composite Center president and CEO Lou Luedtke and former Standard Register CEO Dennis Rediker.
CTI was founded in March 2010. It acquired Vector Composites in June 2010.
