CAM Manufacturing of West Carrollton to close on May 31

WEST CARROLLTON — CAM Manufacturing Inc., which had announced in December that it would relocate to a larger site in Springboro and hire additional workers, said Thursday that it will instead close on May 31 after sustaining years of financial losses.

The company has produced machined parts for the aerospace industry for 25 years.

“Like many other manufacturing companies in the ‘rust belt,’ CAM has been struggling for several years to become profitable,” company president Terry Brill wrote in a prepared statement, without giving details of the losses. “CAM’s diligence and efforts proved to no longer be of value.”

Other manufacturers have begun hiring CAM employees who stand to lose their jobs, Brill wrote. He did not say how many CAM employees remain. In February, the company had approximately 65 employees.

Thompson Auctioneers, of Fairborn, is to auction off CAM’s assets on June 14.
