CareSource adds to leadership team

A new executive has joined CareSource’s leadership team.

The nonprofit insurer that manages Medicaid plans announced David Finkel will fill the new position of executive vice president of markets.

CareSource has grown to cover 2 million people in five states. The Dayton-based insurer reported a 2017 revenue of $8.8 billion and 4,000 employees, half of whom work downtown.

Finkel will lead market operations, as well as member growth, provider and business strategy.

CareSource said in a statement that Finkel most recently serving as president and chief operating officer for MedStar Health Plans in Maryland and Washington D.C., and previously held several other senior executive roles at WellPoint and Coventry Health Care.

“This new core team position will allow CareSource to continue to find innovative solutions for our 2 million members,” stated Pamela Morris, retiring CareSource President and CEO. “David has experience managing the operations of large health plans, and we are excited about the contributions he will make at CareSource.”
