CareSource health programs recognized for best practices

Nonprofit Medicaid managed care plan CareSource of Dayton recently received two industry awards.

CareSource said it received two Pinnacle Awards at this year’s Ohio Association of Health Plan’s Annual Convention in May.

A CareSource substance abuse program, CARE4U Case Management, won in the category of Health Care Programs at the convention. CARE4U addresses controlled substance abuse and provides community-based care to help program enrollees reduce their overall dependency on controlled substances.

A partnership between CareSource and community pharmacists on a Medication Therapy Management Program won in the category of Community Outreach/Partnerships, CareSource said. Under the collaboration, participating Ohio pharmacists help monitor CareSource members’ medication regimens, while also helping to control total costs.

The Pinnacle Awards recognize efforts of health plans to improve the quality of health care for Ohioans, according to CareSource.

CareSource is Ohio’s largest Medicaid health plan.
