Cellular Connection partnership results in 61K device trade-ins

The Cellular Connection, an Indiana-based Verizon Premium Wireless retailer with nine locations in the greater Dayton region, has helped recycle more than 61,000 mobile devices in collaboration with eRecyclingCorps, company officials said.

The Cellular Connection represents a network of more than 300 Verizon Premium Wireless corporate stores in major U.S. markets with an average of 5,000 mobile device trade-ins each month, officials said.

The company’s total trade-in volume during the program’s first year represents nearly $2 million in savings via in-store credit that customers have applied to the purchase of new mobile phones, accessories, and other products and services.

Texas-based eRecyclingCorps partners with global wireless carriers and retailers to provide instant, in-store trade-in credit for obsolete mobile devices. The company renews and refurbishes wireless devices in accordance with industry standards. It then resells them to customers around the world to extend access to affordable wireless technology in emerging markets, officials said.
