Chamber plans second Cuba trip

The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce is planning another trip to Cuba this summer.

The July 21-29 trip to Cuba is offered for $4,099 per person based on double occupancy, the chamber said. Book by March 15 for a total trip cost of $3,999.

The itinerary will include a stay in Trinidad and visits to the Bay of Pigs, Cienfuegos and the capital city of Havana. In Havana, the chamber delegation will stay at the Hotel Nacional.

Registration forms and $250 per person are due by March 15 to ensure seat, the chamber said. Final payment is due by May 15.

A first trip last June was made possible by a license purchased from the U.S. Department of Treasury by Chamber Explorations, a Redondo Beach, Calif.-based organizer of chamber business trips.

Dayton chamber members have visited emerging markets such as China in 2010 as well as India in 2011. But the first trip to Cuba was noteworthy because for more than 50 years, that nation has been the subject of a U.S. trade embargo.

A webinar on the trip will be held at noon today. Go to www.daytonchamber.org and click on “rediscover Cuba” for more information.

A March 15 presentation, also at noon, will be held at room 208 at the Dayton Convention Center, Fifth and Main, downtown Dayton.
