DP&L clarifies number of layoffs

Dayton Power & Light has clarified the number of layoffs that occurred Friday, saying that the overall number of people leaving the company is 21.

Some departures were immediate and others will transition between now and the end of the year, spokeswoman Mary Ann Kabel said. Dayton Power & Light will continue to maintain its operational headquarters here in Dayton, she added, as parent company AES Corp. consolidates operations in Indianapolis.

As part of the reorganization three AES U.S. functions will be based in Dayton including the competitive generation unit, and commercial and retail sales, Kabel said. “The functions based in Dayton will translate into a number of new jobs that will partially offset the departures last week,” Kabel said.
