Clark Schaefer Hackett acquires Columbus-area accounting firm

Regional public accounting firm Clark Schaefer Hackett is expanding in Central Ohio. More than three months after announcing the firm had opened an office in Fort Mitchell, Ky., Clark Schaefer Hackett leaders say they’ve merged with another firm in Columbus as the company continues to grow.

Clark Schaefer Hackett has acquired Schoonover Boyer + Associates, a Columbus-area firm founded in 1990, according to an announcement released Friday. The move increases CSH’s Columbus employee presence from 77 to 87, and bumps the regional firm’s total staffing to 394 across seven offices in Cincinnati, Miami Twp., Springfield, Toledo, Cleveland, and the previously mentioned Kentucky and Columbus locations.

A 76 year-old firm, Clark Schaefer Hackett has had a location in the Columbus market for more than 30 years. In 2012, the firm more than doubled its Columbus presence by joining with Fentress & Barnes, according to the company.

Offices were opened in three new markets over the last five years.

The accounting firm is led by Cincinnati-based President Carl Coburn.
