The BBB said it received three complaint calls on Wednesday and at least two more on Thursday from residents of west Dayton.
Pinnacle Security is the subject of government regulatory complaints in Oregon, Utah and California, the BBB said.
The BBB said its offices have received a total of 780 complaints about the company during the past three years. The organization said it has given Pinnacle Security an F rating, the lowest possible.
Despite that rating, the company’s representatives have purportedly told Dayton residents that Pinnacle is BBB-certified with an A-plus rating, said Sheri Sword, a BBB spokeswoman in Dayton.
Pinnacle did not respond to a telephone call to its headquarters in Orem, Utah, requesting a response.
The BBB says that if a business has been accredited by the organization, it means BBB has determined that the business meets accreditation standards which include a commitment to make a good-faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints.
BBB-accredited businesses pay a fee for the accreditation review and monitoring, and for support of BBB services to the public. Businesses have no obligation to seek BBB accreditation.
