It was once home to Showcase Cinemas Cross Pointe before the 12-screen movie theater closed on June 18, 2006. The 48,123-square foot building sits on a 14.5-acre lot.
Mills Development bought the property for $1.8 million from National Amusements Inc.
Jerad Barnett of Mills Development said work on demolishing the theater should begin within two weeks. “We want to make a statement that the site is ready for redevelopment,” he said. “It has great amenities and we are in no rush. We want to ready it for redevelopment and see what the interest is out there.”
Barnett said he sees potential for new office and mixed use development that offers good access to the interstate.
Mills Development is owned by Bob Mills, a Beavercreek real estate developer.
In the past decade, Barnett said Mills has developed one million square feet of new office space in the vicinity of I-675 and North Fairfield Road. Occupants include defense contractors and research companies as well as Clark State University and DeVry University.
