Direct flights from Dayton to LaGuardia begin today

Today marks the first day for renewed direct flights to LaGuardia Airport from Dayton International Airport, with the first flight scheduled to depart at 4 p.m.

Linda Hughes, spokeswoman for the airport, said the Embraer 50-seat aircraft should arrive in New York City at 5:51 p.m.

The next direct flight leaves at 6:50 a.m. Friday and arrives at LaGuardia at 8:56 a.m. The fights are operated by a Delta Airlines connection carrier, Chautauqua Airlines, Hughes said. There will be two flights per day during the normal work week and on Sundays.

The renewed direct flights to LaGuardia come after much lobbying by Dayton’s business community and city officials when the flights were discontinued during 2012.

“It’s great to have that non-stop destination back in our community,” Hughes said.
