Discovery Channel selects Plus Technologies software

Plus Technologies, a Dayton-area software company, is helping a one of the larger U.S. cable television networks to standardize its printing process, according to a media release.

The Discovery Channel has selected Plus Technologies’ OM Plus Delivery Manager print spooler software for all printing within the organization, company officials said.

OM Plus will be used to enable a “pull-printing” process, which is based on the concept of a print spooler system holding all print-jobs until the user physically releases the jobs at the printer itself. Network users will release their held print jobs by using a swipe card to identify themselves at the printer.

Discovery Channel selected OM Plus with the goals of reducing the number of devices in its printer fleet, eliminating the use of personal printers, increasing confidential information security, and reducing waste, officials said. In addition, workers are now able to retrieve their printing jobs from any authorized printer, enhancing worker mobility.

Plus Technologies is located at 1860 Lyons Road in Washington Twp.
