Smoked-salmon deli and online retail business poised to open in Belmont

A father-son team is poised to open “Oaked and Smoked,” a specialty deli and storefront at 2920 Wayne Ave. in Dayton that will sell smoked salmon products to retail customers, restaurants and through a web site to online shoppers throughout the country.

Martin Davis Jr. of Beavercreek and his son Martin Davis III, also of Beavercreek, launched the business. They’re now putting the finishing touches on the interior of the storefront, which is located near Belmont High School and which has been vacant for about a year and a half. It previously housed New York Pizza and, before that, Tony’s Italian Sausage.

Martin Davis Jr. said he and his son hope to open the deli to the public in early March, but may begin selling the packaged smoked salmon sooner, perhaps within the next two weeks. The deli will be carry-out only and will accept online orders, Davis said.
