Elder-Beerman warehouse in Fairborn could close, company says

Fairborn’s Bon-Ton distribution center could be a casualty in the Elder-Beerman parent company’s proposed restructuring plan, according to documents filed with federal regulators.

The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. could close its distribution facility at at 1340 E. Dayton Yellow Springs in Fairborn as part of its larger plan to close about 60 stores, according to the documents submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The documents detail how the closure could save the company nearly $1.5 million annually. But the company leases the building and exiting that lease early could be subject to a $2.4 million termination fee, according to the documents.

It’s unknown when a final decision would be made for the Fairborn facility, and whether any Elder-Beerman stores in the Dayton area would be impacted.
