Elsevier acquires health record training product

Elsevier — a division of Reed Elsevier, which owns LexisNexis — has acquired NurseSquared, an electronic health record training product, the company said today, Jan. 5.

A publisher of scientific, technical, and medical information products, Elsevier said NurseSquared “teaches students how to properly document using a simulated” electronic health record. The product will be offered to academic customers, Elsevier said.

“Simulation is becoming an important part of the overall health science curriculum and EHRs (electronic health records) are being used increasingly in practice,” Elsevier said, announcing the acquisition. “In fact, hospitals are requesting that students become better trained on electronic documentation.”

NurseSquared provides a simulated EHR and charting system with embedded documentation scenarios that can be used in the classroom, simulation lab or real clinical situations, the company said.
