Greene County Kroger store undergoing renovations

Kroger customers in Xenia will notice some improvements to their shopping experience this summer.

Renovations to the Kroger located at 1700 W. Park Square began at the end of January and should be completed by the beginning of June, the store’s assistant manager, Jason Zink said.

Newest Dayton-area Kroger Marketplace opens today

After the buzz saws and cement spreaders are gone, Zink said customers will enjoy a larger selection of grocery items.

Upgrades will include more shelf space, new store-wide flooring, new frozen cases, wider isles and the customer service area will be moved to accommodate more displays near the registers.

“A nicer store — overall it’s going to be a better experience,” Zink said.

As more “Kroger Marketplaces” open throughout the region, Zink said the renovated Xenia Kroger will not be a Kroger Marketplace destination and no plans for a Marketplace are in the foreseeable future.

As renovations take place over the following months, “ambassadors” will be walking through the store to assist customers.

“We have updated maps everyday,” Zink said. “They’re (ambassadors) to make sure they (customers) get through construction safely and make sure they find everything they need safely.”

Kroger was not able to provide an estimate to the cost of the project.
