h.h. gregg to close Miamisburg store, relocate to Dayton Mall

The Dayton Daily News was first to bring you this story, posting it online at daytondailynews.com on Wednesday.

Officials at h.h. gregg appliances and electronics confirmed Wednesday that they will close a store at 240 Springboro Pike (Ohio 741) and relocate to a new store inside the Dayton Mall.

The appliance and electronics chain “seeks locations that are easily accessible and convenient for our customers. We determined that the Dayton Mall was a more convenient location for the Dayton community,” said Jeff Pearson, senior vice president of marketing for h.h. gregg.

The new Dayton Mall store is scheduled to open in mid-May, Pearson said. The same store crew of about 50 employees will staff the new store, he said.

In making the move, h.h. gregg is following in the same path as its former neighbor on Ohio 741, Dick’s Sporting Goods. Dick’s closed its store at 234 N. Springboro Pike and moved to newly expanded space inside the Dayton Mall in November 2012.

Dave Duebber, general manager of the Dayton Mall, said the new h.h. gregg store will occupy 30,600 square feet of space that became vacant in November after Linens ‘n More closed its Dayton Mall location and several others. The store is located between Elder-Beerman and JCPenney. Interior renovations are underway, as is construction of a new storefront, Duebber said.

Attracting a high-quality retailer such as h.h. gregg “just continues to show the strength of the (Dayton Mall) property,” Duebber said.

“h.h. gregg is a destination tenant,” the Dayton Mall’s general manager said. “This addition will be extremely beneficial to both the mall and to h.h. gregg.”

The space that h.h. gregg will be vacating is located in Miamisburg. Chris Fine, Miamisburg’s development director, could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
