SPRINGBORO — At Trebnick Systems, business is, well, busy.
Since January, the commercial tags, forms and labels printer has hired 25 people. In recent months, the company has invested $1.2 million in an eight-color printing press. Close to $2 million total has been invested in new equipment in the past year at the company’s shop and sales have jumped from $3 million to $8 million in the past year, said Klaus Kok, Trebnick’s general manager.
With all that new equipment, the shop is beginning to feel a bit crowded. Earlier this month, company leaders talked of possibly moving to another location in Springboro about two minutes away, but a move has been put on hold for now.
A walk around the company’s shop floor shows rolls of paper and supplies sitting in aisles waiting for use.
“As you can see, we’re just about bursting here,” Kok said. “Not enough space.”
Co-owner Gregg Trebnick won’t identify customers, but he said some are household names. Trebnick said his smallest customer has 2,500 employees at one location.
Business is increasingly worldwide, too, with customers stretching from Dubai to Peru. In fact, “99.9 percent” of Trebnick’s business is outside Ohio.
So why remain in the Buckeye State? Trebnick said because of its workers. “Ohio has pockets of people who are skilled craftsmen.”
Asked about his recent jump in sales, Trebnick said his company has “an edge.”
“Really, the only way you can sell today, you have to have an edge,” he said. “You have to be different.”
