“In a dynamic market like the corridor between Cincinnati and Dayton, Cox Media Group Ohio adapts as the market grows. We live and work here, and have researched the market to find ways where we could better contribute and grow,” said Terry Bouquot, senior director of business operations for Cox Media Group Ohio’s Northern Cincinnati region. “We feel now is the time to realign our two daily newspapers into a more focused and impactful daily news source.”
The improved daily newspaper will provide comprehensive news from Butler County’s local communities and more news from Cincinnati. Readers can also expect the daily newspaper to deliver more in-depth investigative stories and complete coverage of jobs and the economy, the company said.
Reporters, editors and photographers from the two newspapers will contribute to the new daily newspaper. They will continue to be supported by current staff, including sales, distribution, artists, and the business office in Liberty Township.
The Journal-News will also be available online at http://www.journal-news.com/, a free website providing stories and breaking news every day. The site features photo galleries, video and classified advertising. In addition, subscribers can access Today’s Paper, a page-by-page digital newspaper, organized in the same format as the daily newspaper. This premium digital edition also gives subscribers access to the previous two weeks of newspapers.
“Our research showed us that our long-time customers in Middletown and Hamilton and the communities expanding across the northern Cincinnati region all want a good daily resource for in-depth news and information pertinent to their communities and region - and more information about things to do,” said Kevin Aldridge, editor of The Middletown Journal and Hamilton JournalNews. “Speaking as someone who grew up in this area, this is a major step, but we feel we can focus our editorial resources across Butler and Warren counties to better deliver good journalism for our communities, now and into the future.”
