Heart hospital closing in preparation for move to Good Sam

DAYTON — Dayton Heart & Vascular Hospital will close its emergency department Aug. 25 as the hospital moves to Good Samaritan Hospital’s main campus.

Inpatient service and patient care at the hospital at 707 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd. will end on Aug. 28. The hospital officially closes Aug. 31, Good Samaritan spokeswoman Holly Michael said.

All nonemergency heart and vascular patients visiting the new Dayton Heart & Vascular Hospital at Good Samaritan should use the hospital’s new entrance on Benson Street.

Good Samaritan purchased the heart hospital for $55 million in 2008, knocking off a major competitor.

On Sept. 1, the heart hospital officially becomes part of the $31 million heart and vascular center currently under construction on Good Samaritan’s main campus at 2222 Philadelphia Drive.
