Home Depot to add more than 60,000 seasonal jobs

Home improvement retailer Home Depot said Tuesday it plans to add 150 seasonal jobs at its Dayton-area stores in coming weeks.

The expansion is part of Home Depot’s larger effort to expand staff by more than 60,000 as it enters spring, its peak selling season, said Jean Niemi, a spokeswoman for the Atlanta-based retailer.

The company wants to add and train workers in February and March for its “Spring Black Friday” series of promotional sales slated for March or April.

The training will cover such areas as familiarization with particular products and customer service.

Niemi said Home Depot’s peak season usually runs between March and June, though its duration depends on weather.

Specific dates for Home Depot’s Black Friday events will be set on a market-by-market basis, company officials said.

The company’s Black Friday event in Dayton will last one weekend, though executives haven’t announced the date.

Locally, Home Depot has stores in Beavercreek, Centerville, Lebanon, Miamisburg, Piqua, Trotwood and Springfield, according to its website.
