Home Depot to hire 225 local workers

Sub-zero temperatures have been around for 12 straight days, but that isn’t stopping Home Depot from looking ahead to spring.

The home improvement giant said today that it will hire 225 people in the region and more than 80,000 temporary workers nationwide in anticipation of its big spring selling season, the busiest time of the year for the company. Those seasonal hiring numbers are identical to what Home Depot projected last year.

The company has 10 stores in the region.

A spokesman for Menard’s said he was unable to comment on employment numbers. A message left with Lowe’s home improvement stores corporate officials was not immediately returned.

Spring is busiest for the company as consumers ramp up yard work, including planting in gardens, building decks and pruning trees. They also take on indoor projects, such as painting and installing laminate and hardwood flooring.

The jobs are available on the web at www.careers.homedepot.com. All applicants must apply online, Home Depot said.
